| dc.description | Bolívar reached Peru in September 1823 and found a country submerged in a political labyrinth, with two presidents at the helm of government, in addition to the Constitutional Convention. In January 1824, the royalists attempted to recapture Lima, which forced the Liberator to take his government to Trujillo. The battles of Junín y Ayacucho secured Peru’s independence. After taking office as president, Bolívar set out on his trip through the southern Andes. In Cuzco, he issued a series of “indigenist” decrees and in Upper Peru he drafted the constitution with a lifetime president, also known as the Bolivian Constitution of 1826. | en_US |

En enero de 1824 hubo un intento de los realistas de reconquistar Lima, lo que obligó al Libertador a trasladar su gobierno a Trujillo. Las batallas de Junín y Ayacucho sellaron la independencia del Perú. Luego de asumir la presidencia, Bolívar dio inicio a su viaje por el surandino.
