| dc.description | The General Strike that took place in Guayaquil in 1922 has been one of the most important historical events in the history of Ecuador. Literature, and its ability to configure historical and cultural imaginaries, was not immune to this catastrophe. In 1946 the writer Joaquín Gallegos Lara captured in Las cruces sobre el agua a subjective perspective of events. Based on this novel, this article analyzes the dialogues between history and literature and the way in which the fictional text stands as the living memory of those who died in the massacre. On the other hand, the foundational condition of this massacre and its crystallization through the novel by Gallegos Lara are proposed. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | La Huelga General acaecida en Guayaquil en 1922 ha sido uno de los hechos históricos de mayor trascendencia en la historia del Ecuador. La literatura, y su capacidad de configurar imaginarios históricos y culturales, no estuvo ajena a esta catástrofe. En 1946 el escritor Joaquín Gallegos Lara plasmó en Las cruces sobre el agua una perspectiva subjetiva de los acontecimientos. A partir de esta novela, en este artículo se analizan los diálogos que se entablan entre historia y literatura, y la forma en que el texto ficcional se encumbra como la memoria viva de quienes murieron en la masacre. Por otro lado, se propone la condición fundacional de dicha matanza y su cristalización por medio de la novela de Gallegos Lara. | es_ES |
