| dc.description | This article presents elements of the literary work Alborada, a series of three Chilean historical- memorialistic novels written by Iris (Inés Echeverría Bello). The racialist discourse, detected in the reading of this and other works by the author, will be analyzed. References to the semantic field of race are not strange at the time, however, it is necessary to contextualize the production of Iris to understand the meanings of the concept of race in this work. We will analyze the novels in the historical and intellectual context where the author moved. Race, in conclusion, was a concept that allowed the emerging of an evolutionary discourse, which channeled the messianic message of Alborada, in accordance with the theosophist tendencies to which the author ascribed. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Este artículo expone elementos de la obra literaria Alborada, serie de tres novelas histórico- memorialísticas chilenas escritas por Iris (Inés Echeverría Bello). Se analizará el discurso racialista, detectado en la lectura de esta y otras obras de la autora. Las referencias al campo semántico de la raza no son extrañas en la época, sin embargo, es preciso hacer una contextualización de la producción de Iris para comprender los significados del concepto de raza en esta obra. Se analizarán las novelas en el contexto histórico e intelectual donde se movía la autora. La raza, en conclusión, fue un concepto que permitió generar un discurso evolutivo, que encauzaba el mensaje mesiánico de Alborada, en concordancia con las tendencias teosofistas a las cuales adscribía la autora. | es_ES |
