dc.descriptionIn the colonial period, the Spanish politics towards the American frontiers was oriented not only to recognition and military protection of the borders, but also to control trade in the regions. During the demarcation of the boundaries in the 18th Century, the smuggling in the borders degenerated in various conflicts between the Spanish and Portuguese authorities. However, illegal trade played an important role en la satisfaction of the provisions in the zone, making possible the establishment of local alliances. This article addresses these questions taking as object the study the border Luso-Spanish in the Amazon Valley, between captaincy of Negro River and the province of Maynas, 1780-1820.en_US
dc.description.abstractEn el período colonial, las políticas de las coronas ibéricas hacia las fronteras americanas se orientaron no solo al reconocimiento y protección militar de las zonas limítrofes, sino también a controlar los flujos comerciales de esas regiones. Durante las demarcaciones de límites en el siglo XVIII, el contrabando en las áreas de frontera suscitó diversos conflictos entre autoridades españolas y portuguesas. No obstante, el comercio ilegal desempeñaba un papel importante en el abastecimiento de tales áreas, posibilitando así el establecimiento de alianzas locales. En este artículo se abordan estas cuestiones tomando como objeto de estudio la frontera luso-española en el valle amazónico, entre la Capitanía de Río Negro y la provincia de Maynas, durante el período de 1780-1820.es_ES
